weekly design inspiration: ways to use green

Green is one of nature's most calming and refreshing colours. Not only does it remind us of trees, grass and the outdoors, but research has shown that green has positive physiological effects on our bodies by reducing stress and promoting relaxation! Today we are looking at 3 creative ways to incorporate more green into your home décor to take advantage of its soothing qualities.

leaf it to us

Bring the outdoors in with a leafy wallpaper. A subtle pattern of green leaves makes a beautiful accent wall in living rooms or bedrooms. Look for a wallpaper with different leaf shapes and shades of green for visual interest. A leafy design will transport you to a verdant forest retreat each time you walk into the room!

pot-sitive

Placing potted plants throughout your home is an easy way to bring vibrant green life indoors. Choose from an array of easy-care plants like pothos, snake plants or philodendrons that thrive with minimal light and watering. Display potted plants on side tables, bookshelves, dining tables or kitchen counters for pops of green wherever you look. You can group different sized pots together for visual impact! Don't forget to hang trailing plants from ceiling hooks or mount them on walls for an elevated plant display.

say it with an accent

Make a bold statement with a piece of green accent furniture. Look for unique designs in emerald, forest or hunter green tones. A velvet armchair, entryway bench or ottoman makes for a splash of colour. Place the piece in high-traffic areas like living rooms to catch the eye! The green will complement other wood, metallic and neutral tones in your home. For a monochromatic look, layer patterned pillows or a throw blanket in complementary shades of green.

Design Tip: If you don’t fancy sage or olive, try a colour that has hints of green in it, like a teal! All colours have undertones that can work in your favour!
