Cedar Brae Basement Project
After completing renovations on the main floor of my clients home (see blog entitled Cedar Brae Project) they decided that they’d like to move down into their basement. They wanted to update the space and change the layout to provide more function.
We started with the family room area. Everything was removed and we added and moved electrical to maximize the amount of light in the space. The carpet was removed and we added a beautiful exposed oak floor by Lauzon.
For those of you not familiar with Lauzon, they offer a high quality, Canadian made product. All of their flooring is safe and sustainable and its manufactured without solvents, volatile organic compound (VOC) or formaldehyde.
The walls were painted Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee (I love this colour by the way) and the baseboards were finished in Simply White (another one of my favourites)
The bathroom was also a complete renovation. The toilet was moved to maximize the available space. A custom vanity was designed and I selected Benjamin Moore Lafeyette Green for the colour. For hardware, I selected a black colour ( Jason Wu for Brizo) and black grout to compliment all the white tile. I selected Simply White for the wall colour. This room truly needs to be seen to be appreciated.
Lastly, I completed the guest bedroom. I selected different shades and tones of green for this room. The custom drapery fabric was my kicking off point and everything flowed from there.
The nightstands provide lots of storage and are the perfect shade of green. I selected a black bed to complement the black light fixtures and hardware used throughout. A rattan bench was added so that guests would have a place to set their luggage - up off the floor.
